Air Sahara offers new low fare scheme

Taking on low-cost carriers, Air Sahara announced a new scheme under which fares as low as 80 per cent of the normal ones would be offered depending on the number of seats available on a particular flight. Tickets could be purchased under this new scheme without advance bookings and passengers could now travel on Air Sahara flights at a cost of Rs 2.40 per kilometre, airline President Alok Sharma said. "The traffic on each flight determines the availability of seats under the new scheme. The advantage is that these fares could be availed anytime unlike the advance purchase scheme", he said, adding taxes were excluded in these fares. The new fare on Delhi-Jammu could be available at Rs 1,225 or 80 per cent lower as against Rs 6,220, while that between Delhi and Chennai at Rs 4,275 (70 per cent less) against Rs 14,290. Delhi-Kolkata fare could be Rs 3,225, which is 70 per cent less than the listed fare of Rs 10,865. A Delhi-Hyderabad ticket would cost Rs 3,025 as against Rs 11,535, that is 74 per cent lower, while a Bangalore- Kolkata ticket could cost Rs 3,765 as against Rs 14,495, a reduction of 74 per cent.
