Fog in Delhi leads to chaos at airport
The capital has woken up to another foggy morning with the Met department putting visibility at just about a 100 metres. At the IGI Airport no domestic flights have taken off or landed since Monday night. Though visibility at the airport is enough for flights to take off but no flights have taken off or landed so far because of the immense backlog pending over the last 36 hours. This morning several flights have been cancelled and almost all flights are rescheduled. If one is planning to take a flight on Tuesday morning do call ahead and find out what those new flight timings are. Thousands of passengers are stranded at Delhi airport. With enormous flight delays on the first day of 2007 the airport is already coping with a huge backlog of flights the fog this morning has compounded the situation. The fog has also affected train traffic, trains coming into Delhi have been delayed by as much as 20 hours. The Railways have also rescheduled departures of a large number of trains from New Delhi. Mahananda Express from Jaipur to Alipurdoar, which was to leave at 6.40 this morning will now leave at 11 pm. The Jharkhand Express will now leave at 11.50 pm instead of 7.45 pm as scheduled.
