Tourists pour into Jim Corbett National Park for New Year

Tourists are thronging both the park to bring in the New Year with a bang. Some have preferred to go on a wildlife safari, while others see the New Year as just another reason to party. Though there are other parks including Dudhwa, Bandhavgarh and Ranthambhor, but the Jim Corbett National Park is the only park in the country where the tourist inflow is increasing constantly. "I am very excited to be here," said Jercy, a foreign tourist. According to the authorities, as the heat increases in the plains, the number of tourists visiting the park increases proportionately. "On New Year, the crowd gathers in a huge number here and prepares to have a blast," said Rajeev Bhartari, Director, Jim Corbett National Park.

"We are enjoying ourselves quite a lot here owing to the festive season, everyone's in a festive mood. We are buying gifts and eating out in all the good places out here," said Meenakshi Hazenka, tourist. Nearly 40 lakh foreign tourists have visited India this year, resulting in an earning of Rs 25,934 crore in foreign exchange. This is expected to go up with the New Year celebrations. The Indian Government is using various mechanisms like the satellite accounting system, the sale of tickets and data received from its foreign offices, among others, to lure tourists.
