Andhra Pradesh Tourism offers eco-tourism package
In a bid to promote tourism, Andhra Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation today said it would operate a two-day weekend eco-tourism package from here to Mamandur on the Tirumala hills, from November 18.
APTDC Tirupati Divisional B Manager Manohar said that the package included jungle walks, visits to holy shrines, bird sanctuaries, water falls and bird watching, among other things. Mamandur, he said, had unique collection of fauna. The trek routes would culminate at Tirumala, the hill abode of Lord Venkateswara. The last sighting of the Asiatic Cheetah was recorded at Mamandur forest, he said. Manohar said the tour was being organised in coordination with the Andhra Pradesh Forest Department and "Vana Samrakshana Samiti" (Forest Protection Group). A similar eco-tourism circuit was already operating from Bangalore to Tirumala hills and it had received a good response, he said. The Rs.1650 per head package included food, accommodation, transport and escort services.
