Indian, Amadeus tie-up for travel reservation

State-owned carrier Indian today joined hands with leading global travel technology provider Amadeus for providing reservations and ticket booking of the airline's domestic flights. "This association will provide Indian access to about 6,000 travel agencies across India and 500 corporations associated with us," Amadeus Indian Subcontinent Managing Director Ankhur Bhatia said.

The tie-up will provide Indian travellers access to travel agents and bookers on the Amadeus system in India and can directly book all IC domestic flights including pure domestic bookings. "For us, this tie-up will increase our market share in travel reservation to about 60-62 per cent from the current 52 per cent, while for Indian this is expected to result in increase of seat load factor by about 5-10 per cent," Bhatia said. Commenting on the tie-up, Indian Chairman & Managing Director Vishwapati Trivedi said it was a part of the carrier's commitment to deliver first-rate customer experience right from the travel planning phase till one makes it to the desired destination. "With Amadeus, our reach will further extend to the vast network of travel agencies across the globe and will enable us to provide our end customers superior service, new value added services as well as increases our sales," Tripathi said.

Bhatia said over a period of four months, Amadeus will gradually convert India's existing access terminals, about 500 in number across the country to convert it to its system. Already other full service airlines like Jet Airways, Kingfisher, Sahara and Air India use Amadeus' technology platform for travel reservations.
