Norms are being followed to clear Jet Airways’ US operations
Civil aviation minister Praful Patel on Monday said that procedures were being followed to grant clearance to the largest private sector carrier Jet Airways to start operations to the US soon.
“Procedures are being followed. And following the right procedures will pave the way for solutions,” the minister said, while adding that issues were being addressed by both the US and Indian governments. He also said that since Jet Airways was allowed to operate in India and had got the security nod here, there was no reason for delaying the clearance for operating flights to the US. It comes close on the heels of reports that Jet had approached the government to expedite the response to allay the US authorities’ concerns of the alleged links of the airline with Al-Qaeda. Jet Airways had been granted permission by the Indian authorities to operate flights to the US, but could not get the necessary clearances from the US following allegations that Jet had links with some terrorist outfits.
