Air Deccan to improve connectivity to Imphal


Air Deccan now provides connectivity to Imphal from Kolkata and Silchar. These flights commenced operation on October 30, with daily flights to Kolkata via Guwahati on an Airbus 320 (180 seater) and to Silchar on an 48 seater ATR-42, according to Mahesh Yadav, head-national sales, Air Deccan.

The spokesman for Air Deccan revealed that the new sectors being launched in the North East region will provide flight connectivity to Imphal with airline accessible destinations like Dibrugarh, Silchar and Guwahati in Assam, Aizwal in Mizoram and Agartala in Tripura at the lowest flight fares among the existing flight services available in the North East. He also further mentioned that India`s fastest growing low cost airline and the second largest airline in the country with a market share of 21%, the agency has the largest network in India today covering 60 airports, plying over 300 flights a day. The agency is currently operating a fleet of 16 brand new Airbus A320 aircrafts, and since its inception in August 2003, Air Deccan has carried over 7.5 million passengers and the number is growing everyday.

The spokesman further said that the objective of Air Deccan is to empower Indians to fly at low cost and to have connectivity to all corners of the country. It is providing facilities to all passengers without compromising on safety, becoming a profitable airline and the most preferred employer partner in the country. Mahesh Yadav mentioning the facilities provided to the customer said that they have cut operational cost, administrative cost, distribution cost, fare classes and complicated procedure. For streamlining the works of the agency they conduct management meetings every week to address the complaints from every circle and board meetings every month to upgrade the services, and finally seek public cooperation to their committed services. Later, appreciating the services being offered by the Deccan Airline in the country, joint director of Indian Airlines, Vineet Gulati, mentioned that it was a great opportunity for the people of the North East to avail of the flight services connecting all main regions for the first time.
