Residential quarters for pilgrims at Kheer Bhawani temple


In a bid to boost religious tourism, the Jammu and Kashmir government has constructed residential quarters for pilgrims with all basic facilities in the premises of the famous Kheer Bawani temple at Ganderbal.

The complex includes four one-room tenement buildings, shops, pooja halls, hawan shalla, reception centre, and dormitories, Minister for Roads and Buildings Gulchain Singh Charak said today.

Charak who visited the shrine and paid obeisance there said the complex is under execution at an estimated cost of Rs 17.50 crore and is likely to be completed by December.

The minister instructed the concerned executing agencies to complete the complex within stipulated period adding that landscaping around the temple shall also be taken up soon.
Officials said a number of local deputations met the minister and projected various problems particularly improvement and upgradation of roads at Tulmulla-Barsooa, Balpora, Sehpora and Numbal road.

Charak gave patient hearing to the deputationists and assured them that the government has already drafted various road connectively programme to facilitate the people, particularly in rural and far-flung areas.
