Oman Air to start flights to Lucknow and Jaipur

Oman Air, one of the fastest growing airlines in the region, is adding three new destinations to its expanding network. It would start operations to Chittagong in Bangladesh on May 1, the airline's manager in Qatar Ghalib Salim Bawazir told Gulf Times yesterday. It will be the first international flight to land in Chittagong, Ghalib pointed out.The flights operate on five days - on Sundays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays, leaving Muscat at 12.30am to reach the destination at 7am presenting an ideal opportunity for passengers from the Bangladesh community to fly with immediate connections out of Muscat to Chittagong. The airline offers daily service from Doha to Muscat, leaving at 9.15pm to reach there at 11.30pm. On the same day, it would add Lucknow in India, flying thrice a week - on Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays, leaving Muscat at 12.35am to arrive in the Indian city at 5.25am, Ghalib said.

This will be followed by Jaipur (Rajasthan), on June 1. Future destinations would include London, Frankfurt, Munich, Paris, Stockholm, Milan, Jakarta, Kuala Lumpur and Singapore, he said. Meanwhile, Oman Air was planning to buy a number of planes including Airbus 200/300, of which some would begin to operate in 2009, he said.Procedures were going on to appoint a consultant to conduct a feasibility study on the issue, he added. Some of these would be used for long haul flights to places in Europe and the Far East.Oman Air, he said, would re-brand the image that would incorporate the latest developments in the aviation field. A British consultant had been asked to study and propose restructuring the brand of the airline, Ghalib added.
