Indus Airlines launch marred by endless delays

For the third time now Indus Airlines’ maiden flight has been postponed. The airlines had announced that its operations would take off on December 14. Indus Airlines’ officials said the flight may not take off from Delhi due to various reasons. Captain MS Sandhu, General Manager (Operations), Indus Airlines, said, “Due to fog and a nation-wide call for a strike by the Centre of Indian Trade Union (CITU), it will not be possible for the scheduled flight to arrive from Delhi tomorrow.” However, he said the ultimate authority to decide about the flights is the Delhi management. “Who knows, it may come. But as of now, I am not sure,” said Captain Sandhu. This is the third time in the last month that Indus Airlines had had to postpone its launch.

However, the earlier cause of delay was sorted out when the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) in Delhi gave the clearance to Indus Airlines to fly its aircrafts. The DGCA had objected to the skills of pilots flying the Indus CRJ200 aircrafts after which Indus Airlines sought the help of Sahara Airlines as they have the same aircrafts as Indus Airlines. Wing Commander Suresh Beri of Indus Airlines said, “The DGCA has given us the go ahead.” As a result of the clearance, speculation was rife about Indus Airlines finally launching its flights. However, the wait continues.
