Alteon to supply Air India with flight simulators

Alteon Training, a wholly-owned subsidiary of The Boeing Company has signed an agreement to supply a Boeing 737 Next-Generation flight simulator to Air India’s flight training center in Mumbai. The simulator is scheduled to be installed and certified by the end of January 2007.Alteon is also scheduled to deliver a Boeing 777 simulator in November 2007. These simulator deliveries are in addition to a previously announced 787 simulator delivery scheduled to arrive at the training center in 2008 as part of Alteon’s 787 global training network strategies. "We are rapidly expanding our fleet to meet the increasing demands of air travel in India and we are working closely with Alteon to identify and develop the most suitable training solutions for our new airplane orders," said Capt. Tarun Manilal, general manager-Ops of Air India. "We are pleased with the creative solutions Alteon is providing to us so that pilots and crew will be well trained and ready to operate the new aircraft in a safe and efficient manner when they are delivered."

"Air India has committed to a large airplane order consisting mostly of Boeing 777, 787 and 737 Next Generation aircraft and Alteon has been working closely with them to ensure that we continue to satisfy their training needs," said Sherry Carbary, Alteon president. "By providing solutions in Mumbai instead of having their pilots and crew travel to other training centers, Air India can save both time and money." Air India’s historic order for 68 new Boeing jets, placed in December 2005, was the largest commercial airplane order in India’s civil aviation history. The order consisted of 23 777s, including eight 777-200LR (Longer Range) Worldliners and 15 777-300ERs (Extended Range), and 27 787-8 Dreamliners. Air India Express, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Air India, will receive 18 Next-Generation 737-800s. As part of this order, Boeing committed to investing $75 million in a pilot training facility in India. These Alteon simulators are part of that investment commitment.

Alteon currently offers training services at seven other training centers in the Asia-Pacific region, including Brisbane and Melbourne, Australia; Seoul, South Korea; Kunming and Tianjin, China; Tokyo, Japan and Singapore. Alteon Training is the world’s preferred aviation training partner and the industry leader in providing customer-focused aviation training solutions. The company provides its partners an expanding and integrated services portfolio that includes flight, technical and cabin-crew training. Alteon is a wholly owned subsidiary of The Boeing Company within Boeing Commercial Airplanes’ Commercial Aviation Services group. The training organization supports the world’s aviation community with more than 70 full flight simulators in over 20 locations around the world.
