Emirates to expand call centre base in India
Emirates Airlines is showing its seriousness about its India operations by deciding to further expand its call centre base and facility in the market. It is in the process of setting up its second international call centre facility in India that will be located in Mumbai with a 450-strong workforce. The total investment is Rs 117 million on real estate (including a five-year lock-in period) plus Rs 77 million on refurbishing the proposed new call centre. It will be ready for operations by mid 2007. The airline's present call centre has approximately 140 staff members. Speaking about this development, Salem Obaidalla, vice president (India and Nepal), Emirates Airlines, said, "We are extremely serious about the Indian market and are investing further in this market. The new call centre will be much more sophisticated than our present set-up. We are also planning to increase our network base in India." While the current call centre handles queries from Dubai, North America, Australia, and the UK, the new one will service queries from India, New York and Australia."
