Certificate of International Standards granted to 3 Indian Airports
The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has issued licenses in conformity with the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) requirement to Indira Gandhi International Airport, Delhi, Chhattrapati Shivaji International Airport, Mumbai, Cochin International Airport (CIAL), Cochin, in the country, which are being used for International Air Transport Services. This information was given by Shri Praful Patel, Minister for Civil Aviation in the Parliament today. The process of licensing of other civil airports operating international flights is in progress.
Chennai, Kolkata, Trivandrum, Jaipur, Varanasi, Lucknow, Ahmedabad, Calicut, Coimbatore and Hyderabad, being used for International Air Transport Services have already been inspected. The licenses for these airports will be issued after necessary corrective action on some of the shortcomings as detected during the inspection, is undertaken by the Airport Operator, AAI for these airports. The Government has already incorporated the requirement in Aircraft Routes 1937 for licensing of Aerodromes used for scheduled flight operations. During the process of licensing, the DGCA ensured that the Aerodromes meet the safety standards as required in the ICAO documents.
