Indian wrests number one position in domestic carriage
Leading national carrier, Indian, has wrested the number one position in the domestic carriage segment in March 2007 and recorded an average carriage of 21.9 per cent. According to a press release here today, Indian, registered an increase of 27.5 per cent in daily passenger carriage over March 2006, achieving a carriage of 23,740 domestic passengers per day. The airline also registered an increase of 2.5 per cent over February 2007 market share achieing a domestic market share of 21.9 per cent in March 2007. Indian thus occupies second spot, with the number one leading marginally with a market share of 22.9 per cent. The third position airline holds 17 per cent market share. Indian's domestic seat factor of 71.8 per cent in March 2007 was also higher than the industry average seat factor of 69.5 per cent. The seat factors of other full service carriers were 66 and 65 per cent, the release added.
