The airline will also operate an evening flight at 7.35pm five days a week (Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday). Pereira added that there is a big demand for service to Ahmedabad and we hope to meet this requirement in the coming days. Air Arabia will be now linked to 33 destinations worldwide and seven cities in India in only three years of its operations. A statement issued by airline’s Chairman Sheikh Abdullah bin Mohammed Al Thani said: “This is a momentous occasion that further enhances our commitment to this market by introducing our seventh destination in India. As pioneers in aviation in the Middle East, we are delighted to offer our customers the opportunity to fly seven days a week and will continue to expand our network to more destinations.”
Besides Ahmedabad, Air Arabia also operates flights to Chennai, Jaipur, Kochi, Mumbai, Thiruvanantha-puram and Nagpur. Two Ahmedabad-bound passengers from Muscat, Sudhir Keshvaji (managing director of Naranjee Hirjee) and Bharat Ashar welcomed the flights to Muscat and expressed their excitement for being onboard the maiden service. They will proceed to Udaipur on a pilgrimage and return after a two-day stay in Gujarat. ‘It is a boon for people from the Kutch and other areas of Gujarat,” they said. Launched in 2003, Air Arabia is the first and only low fare airline in the Middle East as its fares are almost 40 per cent lower than other airlines. It has a fleet of nine A320 aircraft.
