Viva Macau plans flights to India

Viva Macau, a low cost regional air carrier headquartered in Macau, will begin operating on December 16 with a flight to Phuket, in Southern Thailand, the company said. Andrew Pyne, the chief executive of the new airline, said that Jakarta would be the company’s second destination and that on December 21 flights would begin to Male, the capital of the Maldives. As well as the routes that have already been confirmed it is also possible that in December some flights will be made to Vietnam, namely Ho Chi Min City, Pyne said. From 2007 Viva Macau plans to increase its fleet and, Pyne said, “open up new routes,” which could include Japan, Australia, the Middle East and India. In the future, Viva Macau wants to establish links to European cities. Viva Macau, which has two Boeing aircraft – one 767-200ER and one 777-300 – with a respective capacity of 208 and 245 passengers, offers two classes – Super Star and Star. Set up in 2004, via a sub concession of Air Macau, Viva Macau is headed by Nag In Lang and its shareholders are from Australia, Canada, Italy and Macau.
