KLM revamps in-flight menu
KLM Royal Dutch Airlines is revamping its in-flight menu options for both business and economy class international passengers. The airline, which flies to seven UK airports and offers a host of connection options, is bringing in the changes to World Business Class, international economy class and KLM Europe Select flights. From December 1, passengers in World Business Class will be able to dine on the cuisine of Jacques and Laurent Pourcel. The brothers run first-rate restaurants in many countries and have produced a menu of hors d'oeuvres, three main dishes and dessert. In international economy class, passengers will be able to enjoy hors d'oeuvres and desserts created by Italian food specialist Bertolli. There will also be new cutlery and crockery.
On flights to India, KLM will offer a choice of either Indian or Western cuisine, with the former developed jointly with Andy Varma. Varma is the well-known owner of The India Room restaurant in London. On KLM's Europe Select flights, meals will be identical to those served on regular KLM flights in terms of content and quality. They have been created with the help of Dutch restaurateur Peter Klosse. "The improvements were prompted by surveys conducted among passengers, assessing their needs and ratings of our in-flight products," said airline spokesman Erik Varwijk. KLM also offers special meals for passengers with specific dietary requirements on long-haul flights. These include vegetarian and halal dishes and can be pre-ordered up to 36 hours before departure by contacting KLM reservations.
