GoAir flight gets delayed for over 17 hours
Passengers of a Bangalore-Delhi GoAir flight had a tough time after bad weather, technical snag and "duty time limitation" involving pilots delayed its departure for several hours, airport sources said. The sources said the flight took off late last night but had to return following bad weather. Passengers were asked to disembark from the plane and they waited for some hours. "The weather was bad from 1.30 am to 9.30 am," an official said. But therafter, the sources said, technical snag was cited as the cause of further delay. The DTL issue, which makes it mandatory for pilots not to fly after being on the job for specified number of hours, compounded the problem. Passengers, who had embarked on the plane for the second time refused to come out, on grounds that the domestic budget airline may utilise the aircraft for a different route.
"It was a case of mistrust," an official said. Tempers ran high for some time, as a section of passengers complained of inconvenience. According to sources, the passengers were accommodated in some other airlines. The sources quoting GoAir officials said the airline made arrangements to fly a "alternative crew" from Mumbai. "The matter has been sorted out," said an airport official this afternoon, who added that the passengers were "not appreciative" of the weather conditions which resulted in delay. "Sometimes, it's beyond control. That way, the passengers were unreasonable," the official said. GoAir officials were not available for comment.
