Surajkund crafts fair to start next month

Famous for its traditional crafts, the 2007 edition of the Surajkund fair will be organised at Surajkund village in Faridabad district of Haryana Feb 1-15. Andhra Pradesh will be the theme state for the 21st Surajkund Mela, Haryana Tourism Minister Kiran Chaudhary said. The annual crafts festival is organised by the Surajkund exhibition authority and central ministries of tourism, culture and textiles. Chaudhary said the exhibition had become an international attraction for showcasing India's finest handicrafts and handlooms. She said an added attraction would be the folk dances and cuisines of Thailand and other neighbouring South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation countries (SAARC). Twenty craftsmen from these countries would also participate in the exhibition. Over 400 state and national award-winning craftsmen from across the country would participate in the exhibition.
